First Grade Update

Dear Parents,

I hope everyone enjoyed this rainy weekend!  We have a very exciting week ahead of us in first grade, so I'll get down to it:
  • Talent show auditions are this week during our Music class time for students who turned in audition forms.
  • We do have school on Monday to make up for a snow day!
  • Thursday is our Coffee House Poetry program!  Please arrive promptly at 2:30 to enjoy refreshments and to find a seat before we begin.  On our invitation, I had asked that you arrive 5-10 minutes early, but I think we'll be just fine on time, so please try to arrive at 2:30, and we'll begin our poetry reading shortly after.
  • Once students have performed their poetry, they will have the opportunity to show you the poetry they have been writing, as well as show you around their classroom.  We will also have refreshments.  If you would like, you may go ahead and take your child with you at the end of the school day.  However, please be aware that if you sign your child out at the office before 3:40, this will count against their attendance.  If all goes as planned, we should be done in our classroom at 3:35, and parents may walk with their children to the front lobby and out the doors right on time.  Thank you for your help with this!
  • Please return your green RSVP slip for the poetry program to me as soon as possible.  This will be a great help to know how many chairs we will need and how many refreshments to buy.  Thank you!
  • Please remember to have your child wear black Thursday for our poetry theme.
  • This week's challenge words are weather and measure
