Getting Ready for First Grade

I love the Back to School season...everything is so cheery and exciting!  The smell of IPA and the laminating machine, seeing all my teacher friends again, arranging and hanging things on our classroom walls, and writing my new students' names on their nametags...I love it all. I love it even when I return to the school after the summer break and find my classroom looking like this:

Oh my!  I had a lot to do.  I arranged, rearranged, hot glued, and even painted (!) until everything looked just right.  The rocking chair even got a makeover:

I'm happy to report that our first grade classroom now looks like this:
Now that our classroom is ready, I'm looking forward to seeing you and your family at Meet the Teacher/Parent Orientation night on Thursday, August 11.  This is an evening when I get to see you again and you bring all your school supplies to school and put them away.  You get to introduce me to your family and take a look around our room.  Then, I get to meet with your parents and make sure they know everything they need to know about First Grade!  It's from 6:00 to 6:45, and I hope you and your parents can make it.  See you Thursday!
