First Grade News

Hello Parents!

This week's first grade update has been a little delayed, due to some *technical difficulties* with my home computer.  Hopefully, I'll be back online from home very soon!  Here's the latest:
  • Please remember that library books are due back to school every Wednesday.  Students may also return books and check out new ones before school any other day of the week.  Mrs. Miller asks that students do not get new books on Wednesday morning, though, so that they will be able to select new books and check them out during library time.
  • If you have not already done so, please select a parent/teacher conference time with Sign Up Genius.  You should have received an email with instructions on how to schedule your conference.  I will get a confirmation email when you have scheduled your conference.
  • Weekly Friday spelling tests are graded for correct spelling and correct letter formation.  If letters appear to be formed correctly but are a little messy, I will model correct formation on your first grader's test.  However, if letters are reversed, appear to be incorrect case, are formed incorrectly, or are "floating" off the lines, these will be counted as incorrect.  Additional practice at home will also help to form good handwriting habits.
  • PTA will meet September 26th.
  • Century's Scholastic Book Fair will be September 28 through October 7.
  • Century's Fall Dance is scheduled for September 30th.
  • Thank you for sending in your Box Tops for Education!
Have a great week!
