I hope everyone has had a great week. We started two new units this week! Next week in math we will be digging deeper into our new math unit on arrays and multiplication by playing games with arrays. In science we're kicking off our unit on adaptations and ecosystems with an ecosystems webquest and a study of informational text features (headings, index, glossary, table of contents, captions, etc.). In reading we will be learning to determine an author's purpose for writing a particular piece, and in writing we will be writing introductory and conclusion paragraphs on our expository pieces.
Reminders:
- Please sign and return your fourth grader's permission slip and $2.00 fee for our 4th grade field trip to the high school to watch the musical Grease. The field trip is Wednesday, November 20th.
- Your fourth grader can now practice 4th grade math and reading skills with Acuity at Home! Click here for more information.
- Please help your fourth grader select a healthy snack if he/she wishes to snack during the school day. Students may not eat sugary snacks in our classroom.
- Great job to everyone for completing their October book reports! Everyone's presentations were wonderful and they led to powerful conversations about the books. Please remember that this is an assignment for every month, so students should be working on their November book reports at this time. Please confirm with your fourth grader that they have selected a book on their reading level and are reading it. Thank you!

Now that we have all completed our October book reports, we are able to read one another's blog entries and leave comments. Our system for leaving comments is called TAG. Everyone did a great job with this!
Have a wonderful weekend!
