First Grade News

Dear Parents,

Happy Friday!  I hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful winter weather!  Here's what you need to know for first grade:

  • The Nixa School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) will sponsor a 5K Family Fun Run at Nixa High School. The event takes place on March 17 so start your St. Patricks day off right with some exercise!  Registration will be from 7 - 7:45 a.m. at the football stadium and the run will start at 8:00. There is no cost to participate; however t-shirts will be available for $5 each. If you are interested in a shirt, please fill out this form and return it to your school's office manager by Feb. 28.  There will be drawings for iPods. Those who purchase a t-shirt will be automatically entered in the drawings.  The 3.1 mile course runs through nearby neighborhoods. This community event is held in conjunction with the Nixa Area Chamber of Commerce's NIXPO and is intended to draw attention to the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Health research shows people in America need more fitness and fun in their lives. Come walk, jog, run, ride a bike or push a stroller with us for this family, non-competitive event.
  • Thursday, March 8th will be the last day of third quarter, and we will not have school on Friday, March 9.
  • First grade Character Cadets will have their last meeting on Monday, March 26.
