First Grade News

Greetings, Parents!  I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break!  I spent my week enjoying the beautiful weather, spending time with my family, and spring cleaning my house.  Now I'm refreshed and ready for fourth quarter, which tends to fly by way too fast for me.  Only nine weeks until I send my sweeties off to second grade!

Here's the news for this week:

• This week's challenge words will be drank and weather. (Please practice the dr- blend in drank.  First graders sometimes mistakenly hear jr- when they say this blend.)
• First grade Character Cadets will have their last meeting of the year on Monday, March 26 at 7:35 a.m.
• This month's choice day will be Stuffed Animal Day on Friday, March 30.  Students may redeem 25 signatures to bring a stuffed animal to school on that day.
• DATE CHANGE: I had previously asked you to save the date for our poetry program for April 19.  I need to change that, so instead, please save the date for our Coffeehouse Poetry Program on Friday, April 20.  Invitations to follow!

• Friday, March 30-Stuffed animal choice day, March reading logs due
• Friday, April 6-No school
• Friday, April 20-Coffeehouse Poetry Program
• Tuesday, April 24-Meet Your School night, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
