Dear Parents,
Good evening! I hope everyone had a restful weekend. Next week in reader's workshop, we will be learning how to better visualize what we are reading. In writer's workshop, we will wrap up revising and move on to editing and publishing our first fourth grade piece of writing. In science, we will be applying our new knowledge of worms to create a group project, and we'll begin planning our next engineering activity using the Engineering Process. In math, we are working on strategies to find the multiples of a number. Remember to have your fourth grader continue practicing Xtra Math at home! It is very important that everyone is building fluency with multiplication facts to 12.
Reminders:
- This week, Sept. 9-13, families have the opportunity to order yearbooks at the pre-sale price of $16.50. Our student-led yearbook staff is already hard at work producing the 4-color, 60-page celebration of JTSD classes, achievements, and memories for the current school year. To reserve your yearbook at the pre-sale price, follow the yearbook link from our school homepage, or visit jostensyearbooks.com through Friday, September 13. Additional ordering opportunities will be announced later this fall.
- Please remember to send in you Box Tops! They are a huge help to our school.
- Please be sure that your student has the following apps on his/her iPad: Factor Pop (free iPhone version), Doceri, Educreations, Times Table Quiz, Google Drive, Learnzillion for students, and Socrative for students. We will begin using these apps on Wednesday.
- Next week we will be starting our next engineering project, and we will be needing some supplies. If you have any shoe boxes or plastic containers that you could donate to our class, we would greatly appreciate it!
- On Tuesday, September 10, our students who are running for Student Council will have an opportunity to tell the class why they would make a great representative. Then we will have our election in our classroom to determine who will be our class's representative and back-up representative.
- Please visit JTSD's website for school-wide information and dates.
