Good afternoon! It's great to be back. Miami was beautiful, but I'm so happy to be reunited with my cats and my fourth graders.
This week in math, we are continuing our geometry unit by focusing on the attributes of quadrilaterals and beginning our study of acute, right, and obtuse angles. In writing, we will focus on correct use of commas, especially in lists and between the city and state. In reading, we'll go deeper into our study of character traits and how characters change over time. Science this week will be spent designing our bird feeders and justifying our design ideas to the class.
Reminders:
- Our field trip to Smallin Cave in Ozark will be February 11th. Students must return their permission slips to be able to attend. The cost of the field trip is $5. Please fill out the green permission slip and return it to me as soon as possible. Thanks!
- Third quarter parent/teacher conferences are coming up on February 25 and 27. Please click here to sign up for your conference time.
- As we are planning and designing our bird feeders, we need to start thinking about materials. Part of the challenge of this project is to solve the problem without spending any money. I want my students to find ways to build their bird feeders using things we already have, so if you have any "junk" that might be useful to us, please send it in! Perhaps your child or another child in the class could find it useful. Milk jugs, pop bottles, duct tape, string, or any other items your fourth grader may want to include in their design would be appreciated. Thank you so much for your help with this!
