Dear Parents,
Good afternoon!
Next week we will begin MAP testing. Fourth graders will be taking the communication arts test on Monday and Tuesday, and the math portion of the test will be Wednesday and Thursday. Our class has been reviewing some test-taking tips, so I'll share them with you:
1. Get plenty of sleep and eat a good breakfast. (Please help ensure your child has a smooth morning on the days of the test. We want them to be able to focus and show what they know.)
2. Arrive to school on time.
3. Use a #2 pencil.
4. Answer every question. (There's no penalty for wrong answers, so you might as well give every question your best shot!)
5. When you're done, go back and check your work.
6. Read the question first.
7. Eliminate answers that are not the best.
8. Don't leave stray marks on your test.
9. Fill in answer bubbles completely.
10. "Make it Clear" on written answers. (Make it ClEaR-Cl is for claim, which means restate the question and give your answer. E stands for evidence, which means tell where you found support for your answer, and R stands for reasoning, which means explain how the evidence shows that your claim is correct.)
11. GIVE 100%!
I am so proud of how hard my class has worked this year, and I know they are going to do wonderfully! You can help with encouragement, positivity, and reminders to work on Study Island. Thank you for all the support you provide at home. It makes all the difference!
