January 17 Newsletter

Dear Parents,

Happy Friday! It was wonderful to finally get a full week of learning! Next week in science we will continue to explore animals and their adaptations by studying beaks, camouflage, and thumbs. In math, we will continue our new geometry unit by revisiting measurement and measuring perimeter. In writing, we will review capitalization rules and begin learning how to form compound and complex sentences. In reading, we will learn to determine cause and effect by making inferences.

Reminders:
  • The next JTSD B&B Movie Morning will be on February 8th.  The Lego Movie will begin at 9:30.  Doors open at 9:00. You can get your tickets by visiting this link.  If you sign up online, your tickets are not confirmed until payment is received and you have received an email receipt.
  • Scholastic Book Order catalogs will be coming home next week. These are a great way to build your child's home library! If you would like to order, you can return the order form with a check made out to Scholastic (no cash is accepted) or you may order online by clicking here. Be sure to use our class code GYLJ2 when you order so that your items will be shipped to our classroom for free. Thank you!
  • Mrs. Lanutti is needing baby wipes, magazines, and lids of any kind. If you happen to have any of these items on hand that you could donate, she would really appreciate it!
  • Mrs. Sorenson has requested that all fourth graders download an app called Name That Note. Please make sure that your child has this app. For a complete list of required apps, click here.
  • Please remind your fourth grader to be responsible about homework. Morning work should be completed each night, since we go over it in the morning, and students do not always have time to complete it. Thank you for your help with this!
  • Be sure to visit JTSD's website for school-wide information and dates.
Important Dates:
  • Jan 20-MLK Jr. Day-School is in Session
  • Feb 8-PTA Movie Morning
Visit the JTSD school calendar for additional dates.

  1. Love the last picture of the kids outside! The sky is beautiful! Thank you for taking the time to post and write a blog! I read it all the time and never remember to let you know how special it is to see into my kiddo's world while she is away from me. Also, I love the communication aspect as well. I always feel well-informed! Thank you!
