Bird Feeder Engineering

Overall, I'm pretty good at remembering to take photos of what's happening in my classroom (that makes the yearbook committee very happy). However, I'm not great about getting photos published to the blog in a timely manner. The reason for this is that my blog post width is 500 pixels, so all photos must be resized to 500 px wide, or my blog will take too long to load. Up until now, I didn't know how to resize an entire batch of photos at once without downloading new software, and I wasn't comfortable downloading that software onto my computer (which is property of the school), so I was resizing photos one at a time. Not fun. Not fast.

But I recently learned how to batch resize (resize an entire folder of photos at once) on my Mac computer without downloading any additional software. This is life changing! So get ready...there are lots of classroom photos coming your way!

Here are some moments captured while our fourth grade classes were building their bird feeders. Besides all the construction happening in our classrooms, we also took over the hallway and the parking lot. That was such a fun day!

This project was definitely one of my favorites. Besides including our science and math curriculum, we also learned so many real-life skills, like planning, teamwork, cooperation, compromise, and how to use some tools. Plus, we had a blast!
