Good afternoon. Next week in math, we'll be working on long division and starting a new unit about line graphs and rates of constant change. In reading, we're going to continue studying plot structure (exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and conclusion) and in writing, we're going to work on how to correctly use dialogue. Our next science unit will cover force and motion, and in social studies, we will also be holding our classroom and grade level debates to determine which event in Missouri's history should get a book in the "I Survived" series.
Reminders:
- The process of checking in iPads will take place during the last two weeks of school. Students must turn in a working iPad charger with their iPad.
- Don't forget that our summer schedule starts June 2. School will begin at 7:30 and dismiss at 2:20.
- Pink notes with bus tags went home today with all the students who ride buses. Since most of the rest of the district is out of school in June, our bus routes will change slightly, so please fill out the bus tag and be aware of changes to your child's bus route. Bus tags need to be returned to school as soon as possible. Visit the JTSD website for information on how to determine your child's new bus route.
- Field Day at JTSD is May 23. Please have your child wear their MAP shirt and tennis shoes on field day. There will be water activities, so bringing a change of clothes would be a great idea for that day.
- Note from Coach K: Hello Parents of JTSD! Field day is right around the corner! The 5th and 6th graders will be running the stations, so no volunteers will be needed unless you would like to come and spend the day with your kiddo. I do, however, need a few items that could be borrowed and returned if possible. Follow this link to sign up to bring something in prior to May 23rd (there is one item that will be needed the day of the event). Thank you in advance for all of your help making this year's field day spectacular!
- This year, JTSD will be having its first-ever talent show! With all this great talent, we must set some limitations. Each student will go through an audition process in the music room on the designated day. Auditions require a full review of your talent by a panel of judges. During the audition, the performer(s) must provide all music and props. Preparation will be considered when choosing acts to perform. You will sign up for your audition time through Sign-Up Genius. Please follow this link to sign your child up for an audition slot on the appropriate day. Be sure to fill in all required information including email address, phone number, and a brief description of the talent/equipment needed. The 4th grade audition day will be Wednesday, June 4. Click here to sign up to audition. The K-3 grade talent show will be at 1:15 on June 18, and the 4-6 grade talent show will be at 1:15 on June 19.
- The sign up is now available to help with the BOGO book fair in June. You can find the sign up at the this link or by going to www.signupgenius.com and choosing Find A Sign Up for jtsdvolunteers@gmail.com. Thank you!
- THANK YOU so much to the Gomas family for donating a 29 gallon fish tank to our classroom! Mr. Geckhardt is going to love his new home, and he'll finally have room for all his recreational equipment.
