Happy Friday! What a busy week! Thank you so much for coming to parent/teacher conferences. I enjoyed getting to meet with each of you and discuss your fourth grader's progress this quarter.
Next week in reading we will be focusing more on summarizing nonfiction. In writing we will continue working on researching our famous Missourians, and then we will begin the steps to turn our research into expository paragraphs. In math we will be learning about probability and conducting probability experiments. In science we will be learning about rocks. Remember that next week is a short week, since we don't have school on Friday.
Reminders:
- Next week we will be starting the part of our unit that focuses on rocks. Encourage your fourth grader to collect and bring in any interesting rocks they find so that we can compare them and make observations.
- Please check with your fourth grader that he/she know what book to use for this month's book report. If your fourth grader is unsure if a book is close enough to his/her level, just email me and I can look it up. Books from outside our classroom library may not be marked with the level. Students should be working on their book reports at this time, because they are due October 31.
- As a class, we have all agreed we want to focus on controlling our talking and blurting. We have not been earning as many signatures from our enrichment classes as we would like, and we've identified the problem we need to work on. Please encourage your fourth grader to do their part to support our class and practice good habits. Thank you!
